About Me

Matthew Shadbolt is currently the Director Of Internet Marketing at The Corcoran Group, Manhattan's Largest Real Estate Agency. He is responsible for the development of the strategic direction and tactical implementation of, in addition to supporting its web marketing platforms. He is tasked with optimizing website performance, translating brand image and positioning online and increasing interactivity across various users. He is also responsible for streamlining and developing innovative web content, developing digital marketing options for agents and transitioning print marketing and advertising into a strong and effective online/digital voice.

During his tenure at Corcoran, online visitor traffic has quadrupled, he has assembled a team of web developers dedicated to web marketing initiatives, and conceptualized a large number of successful value-driven projects. These include such features as the 'Open House Planner' tool, 'Most Viewed Properties Now', implementing Zagat Survey recommendations, real-time weather and traffic information into property listings, and creating a brand-specific micro site,

Matthew works closely with the technology and advertising departments to create comprehensive solutions and improvements to current web marketing programs, and ensures consistency of representation for the Corcoran brand. He was responsible for all the creative elements for Corcoran's Annual Awards ceremony event at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom in February 2007, which included animated video sequences, video billboards, awards projections, electronic invitations and even participated in the technical direction of the creative during the event itself.

In addition to his responsibilities at Corcoran, and initiated in 2003, Matthew also runs Algorithm, his own small independent freelance design studio. Algorithm is primarily focused on designing creative solutions for independent bands and small businesses. Algorithm has designed promotional materials such as posters and websites for numerous clients as Film School, Zenwerks, TankFarm Future Sounds, Dialogue, July Fourth, Grinner, and The Double Crossers Roller Derby team. Algorithm's projects have enjoyed much success through social networking sites such as, and its work has been published all over the world.

Prior to joining Corcoran, Matthew was the Creative Director for Music Choice, the multi-platform music network that reaches millions of consumers through their TVs, PCs, and cell phones. Music Choice programs both video and audio music channels, produces exclusive music shows, films in-studio artist performances and interviews, and distributes daily entertainment news. As Creative Director, Matthew was responsible for managing a team of eight graphic designers and editors, whose responsibilities included the creation of all cross-platform visual aspects of Music Choice’s output. Matthew was also charged with creating customized video promotions for advertising sales clients. He designed highly integrated advertising campaigns for Diet Sprite Zero, Saturn and Geico. He oversaw and created all corporate materials including brand identity and logo designs for all the different channels of music, all new product development and interface design, affiliate collatoral and interactive demonstrations.

Before making the move to New York, Matthew was Manager of Graphics at QVC Inc., where he oversaw the creative strategy and production of QVC’s broadcast output, as well as interactive television product development, creative brand strategy and television marketing initiatives. During his 5 year tenure at QVC, he was also the Senior Interactive Designer at QVC UK in London, where he developed the world’s first real-time interactive television impulse purchasing application, QVC Active, for the Sky Digital Satellite service. In addition to this he was responsible for the graphic creation of, as well as the company’s 2001 cross-platform network rebrand.

Matthew graduated from the Jan van Eyck Akademy in The Netherlands in 1998 with a Postgraduate Laureate, specializing in Interactive Design. He also taught ‘Introduction to Computational Form’ on the graduate Graphic Design course at Yale University in 2005.

He has taught Graphic Design and Critical Fine Art Practice at numerous academic institutions including Oxford University, Kingston University, The University of Maastricht, Middlesex University and the Art Institute of Philadelphia. His prior speaking engagements include the International Symposium on Electronic Art, The Center for Old and New Media (Amsterdam), Stichting de Geuzen (Amsterdam) and the European Media Art Festival.

His work has been published in numerous magazines and publications, including Eye, Billboard, The New York Times, MacFormat and Metropolis M. His work has received many online awards, and he was the recipient of the Jan van Eyck Akademy Purchases and Collection Award in 1998. Shadbolt has been a member of the New York Chapter of AIGA since 2004 and is an active member of the Anglo-Zulu War Historical Society.

And he greatly enjoys designing posters in his spare time.
